Piggyback shock absorbers are characterized by a reservoir located on the side of the shock absorber housing, which performs several functions. This reservoir is an additional oil container, some of which features an increased surface area thanks to cooling fins. When the oil in shock absorbers overheats due to extreme stress, the damping function is lost due to gas formation within the oil. To prevent this, the additional oil reservoir increases the oil volume and the cooling surface of the shock absorber housing, thus preventing the oil from heating up too quickly under extreme load. To prevent leakage during transport, only our shock absorber housings are pre-filled with 100 cps oil. For optimal performance, the reservoir must also be filled to the correct oil level.
