Fiber optic patch cables are defined components of an internationally standardized structured cabling system according to ISO/IEC 11801. Historically, many different connectors have been used in structured cabling, of which the following are still relevant: LC, SC, E2000, MPO/MTP. A fiber optic patch cable represents the shortest connection between a passive cabling port and an active network port, or a point-to-point connection between two active network ports.
