Servos are an integral part of the RC system and thus the foundation of a remote-controlled model. Connected to the steering linkages, they translate stick or rotary movements on the transmitter into steering movements on the vehicle. In internal combustion engine vehicles, they also function as throttle servos, operating both the carburetor's throttle valve and the brake. An undersized servo will have a longer response time and a shorter lifespan under load. A good servo doesn't have to cost a fortune, but it makes the model more reliable for years to come.
