The new OSRAM LEDguardian TRUCK FLARE Signal TA19 is an LED warning light whose presence in vehicles and use in the event of a breakdown are mandatory in Germany. This applies to all vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 3.5 metric tons or more, according to Section 53a of the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO). In addition, the OSRAM TRUCK FLARE also meets the requirements stipulated in the technical specifications of the StVZO (TA 19). These specify that the warning light must have the following characteristics: an orange flashing light, a continuous operating time of at least 15 hours, a flashing frequency of 1.5 Hz or 0.5 Hz at 90 pulses per minute, and a dynamic pressure of 21 kg/m² at wind force 9. Only lights that meet these requirements are officially approved for use on public roads. The OSRAM TRUCK FLARE significantly exceeds these requirements, for example with a continuous operating time of up to 50 hours. In the event of a breakdown or accident, the warning light must be placed next to the warning triangle to mark the hazard and switched on. Its use is not mandatory for vehicles over 3.5 tons, but is of course possible and recommended for the safety of all road users.
