Unlike chargers with an I/V characteristic curve, this device charges with a constant current. This results in significantly faster charging, as batteries are charged with the maximum current until the end of the charging process. Another advantage is that the batteries are charged to 100% of their capacity. Controlled gassing is desirable, as it significantly influences the formation of sulfate layers and thus extends battery life. Charging principle: The battery is charged with the maximum current up to a voltage of 14.7 V. The device then switches to timer mode, and the battery is charged for one hour with a steadily decreasing current. After approximately one hour, the device automatically switches to standby mode, and trickle charging at 13.8 V is initiated. Naturally, the devices are short-circuit and reverse polarity protected.
