Battery isolating diodes allow multiple batteries to be charged simultaneously from a single power source without the individual batteries being connected to each other. For example, the auxiliary battery can be charged without simultaneously discharging the starter battery. Furthermore, the use of modern Schottky diodes keeps voltage drop low. It is approximately 0.3 V at low currents and approximately 0.45 V at the rated current.
