Powerful and elegant queens of the rails: They were once queens of European railways: the four-cylinder express locomotives from Saxony, Baden, Württemberg, Bavaria, and also Sweden. Inspired by the German railway stars, the Swedish State Railways (SJ) commissioned NOHAB to build eleven Pacific express locomotives of the F class between 1914 and 1916, whose design was based on the famous Württemberg C class. The Swedes also placed great importance on an elegant and aesthetically pleasing appearance, including a streamlined cab. The F locomotives soon conquered the important main lines Stockholm–Malmö and Stockholm–Gateborg, which, however, were already fully electrified by the 1930s. From 1937 onwards, the powerful F locomotives finally found a new home in Denmark. They ran there as the E series until the 1960s, their Danish replicas even a little longer. In their old homeland of Sweden, the imposing locomotives of the F series remained unforgettable. As early as 1963, the Swedish Railway Museum bought back the former F 1200, followed by the F 1202 in 1999. Today, locomotive 1200, perfectly restored and in its original, operational condition, is on display at the Gøvle Museum. Its livery is reminiscent of its predecessor, the Württemberg steam locomotive queen of the C series. In real life, the two majestic locomotives will unfortunately never meet again, as all the C series locomotives have been scrapped. Therefore, only the Mø remains.
