Quarter horses are extremely fast horses. They are breathtakingly fast, especially over short distances. This was evident in the eighteenth century, when they often left even English Thoroughbreds behind during quarter-mile races. Quarter horses owe their name to these (quarter-mile) races. Suitable for children aged 5 and up.
