Contrary to some misconceptions, this is not a meat cleaver. The Shun Classic Vegetable Cleaver is a large squared knife with a very wide blade. This style is also sometimes called a Chinese Cleaver as is used to chop larger vegetables, such as cabbage, which are frequently a part of Chinese cuisine.
